SiDi, a technology institute in Campinas (SP) that has been active in the development of global projects and innovative solutions for 16 years, is expanding its presence to the Northeast region. And the city chosen to house its first unit outside the state of São Paulo is Recife (PE), where SiDi is opening a research and development center focused mainly on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Located in Porto Digital, one of the most important technological parks in the country, SiDi Recife started activities in June, with a high-level multidisciplinary technical team, formed by researchers and professionals from the region with experience in cloud development and AI technologies. . The team is being led by executive Rogério Moreira, who has been working at SiDi in Campinas for 9 years, and has already conducted several projects in partnership with Pernambuco technological centers.
“The arrival of SiDi in Porto Digital strengthens our city as a pole of innovation”, says Pierre Lucena, president of Porto Digital. “This is added to a series of efforts made by our ecosystem to guarantee a better future for our city. It also shows that the effort made in the formation of human capital is in the right direction “, he adds.
John Yi, superintendent of SiDi, explains that one of the reasons for the installation of the unit in Recife is the strong partnership that the institute has maintained with this region for several years, during which more than one hundred research and development projects were carried out together. “In addition, the expansion to other regions of the country is part of SiDi’s growth strategy. With this partnership with Porto Digital, we are starting a project that represents a long-term commitment to the Northeast region ”, he emphasizes.
The new unit is already conducting research and innovation projects for digital transformation of companies in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, cloud solutions and applications for image manipulation. The objective is to consolidate SiDi Recife, within the next 3 to 5 years, as a center of excellence in AI, aligned with the MCTI strategy in this area.
“It is also our intention to expand partnerships and strategic alliances in the region, applying SiDi’s knowledge and experience in areas such as computer vision, cyber security and Internet of Things in the development of innovative solutions that meet the needs of the various sectors of the economy present in the Northeast ”, concludes John Yi.
