SiDi tem projetos selecionados em chamada do CNPq

SiDi had two project proposals selected in the CNPq public call for the Academic Master and Doctoral Program for Innovation – MAI / DAI. The purpose of this call (No. 12/2020) was to select proposals for financial support for projects that aim to contribute significantly to the country’s scientific and technological development.

The two projects, which will receive financial compensation from SiDi, will be developed in partnership with Brazilian universities – which participated in the preparation of the proposal submitted to CNPq. “With this, we will be strengthening our relationship with the academic area and, still, investing in the development of basic research”, says John Yi, SiDi’s Superintendent.

One of the selected proposals has the theme Intelligent monitoring with cameras and involves machine learning technologies and computer vision, in the area of Artificial Intelligence. The project will be developed with the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), with professor José Mario De Martino in charge.

The other proposal is the result of a partnership with the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) – with which SiDi has already carried out several works together. With the theme Consumer Opinion Mining, the project involves Big Data processing techniques, data anonymization, data collection in multiple channels, data labeling techniques and semantic understanding of texts. At UFPE, Professor Rafael Dueire Lins will be responsible for the work.

Each project is associated with a grant from the CNPq Academic Doctoral Program for Innovation. And, for each doctorate, four scientific initiation grants for students from partner universities are linked. Those awarded with doctoral scholarships will work with SiDi teams to develop their respective projects.
